Our Mission
Happy Mom Happy Children is a Toronto-based nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting newcomer families as they transition and settle into life in Canada. With a strong focus on empowering mothers and children in Regent Park, our organization offers community-based programming that fosters belonging, social connection, parenting support, mental health, and financial literacy. Though officially incorporated in 2024, the organization has been serving the community for nearly a decade and has built longstanding partnerships with institutions like the University of Toronto and Toronto Metropolitan University. Our mission is to create a welcoming, inclusive environment where families can access the tools and resources they need to thrive.
Rabia Alsabaie – Founder & Executive Director
Empowering Mothers. Uplifting Families. Building Community.
Rabia Alsabaie is a passionate educator, community leader, and founder of Happy Mom Happy Children (HMHC)—a grassroots organization based in Regent Park, Toronto, dedicated to supporting immigrant and newcomer mothers and their families.
With a background in education and over 10 years of experience working with families in Regent Park and surrounding communities, Rabia created HMHC to address the growing need for free tutoring, parenting support, youth mentorship, and mental health and wellness programs for moms. She recognized that many newcomer families struggle to navigate Canada’s education system and access community services. HMHC was her response: a safe, inclusive space where mothers feel empowered and children thrive.
Since its founding, Rabia has expanded HMHC into a vital community hub. The organization now serves dozens of families through tutoring programs, exercise and nutrition workshops, walking groups, parenting seminars, and youth employment opportunities. Under her leadership, HMHC has hired and trained youth tutors, partnered with local organizations, and received support from the City of Toronto and community donors.
Rabia believes that when mothers are supported, children succeed—and strong families create strong communities.
